Why Give to Camp YJ?
Camp YJ was founded in 1939 to provide a safe, nurturing space of Jewish learning and fun in the great outdoors. Children today are less connected to the natural world than ever before. And sadly, many of them do not have the same anchors to Jewish institutions as children did in the past.
Camp YJ provides an opportunity to bond with children from a rich variety of Jewish backgrounds and create stronger attachments to the Jewish community in a digital-free environment. The lifelong friendships and connection to Israel and Jewish heritage, history and culture is undeniable.
Camp YJ isn’t just a camp, it’s a family!
However, we need you to help continue the legacy of Camp YJ not just for this generation, but for generations to come. We want more families to become part of the Camp YJ experience. We’re asking you to help us continue to do the amazing work of providing memorable experiences for Jewish children: our task is important and our dreams are big!
Your generous support will help fund scholarships so that Camp YJ is available to all, and much-needed improvements to infrastructure and programming so we can make sure that Camp YJ will always be that place “Deep in the Hills” for generations of Jewish campers.
Camp YJ DEEP IN THE HILLS CAMPAIGN
Donations to the YJ Deep in the Hills Campaign support many aspects of Camp YJ, including camper scholarships, ongoing capital and building improvements and recruitment, hiring and training of our amazing staff.
More and more families, including alumni, simply can’t afford to send their children to Camp YJ--or have to limit their stays to only one session, instead of a full summer of the Camp YJ experience. Many can’t consider sending their children on our Israel Gadna program. Your support helps to assist families make a Camp YJ experience a reality.
Recent improvements to Camp YJ include an all new Girls Area in 2017, construction of two new Boys Area cabins and eight brand-new tennis courts in 2019, and a new 40 foot climbing wall in 2021. A positive camp experience is largely built on the commitment of dedicated and well-trained staff. Your support helps us recruit, hire and train the best staff available to nurture and provide an amazing summer camp experience to our campers.
