Gifts of StocK

Donating Appreciated Securities

A gift of stock or securities can maximize the value of your philanthropy while also giving you tax advantages.

By donating publicly traded securities to Camp YJ, you eliminate the capital gains tax that you’d have to pay if you sold the securities and then donated the proceeds. You’ll also receive a charitable tax receipt for your donation.

Securities can include stocks, mutual funds, segregated funds, bonds, flow-through shares, ETFs and employee stock options. You can give now, or as part of your estate and will planning.

How it happens:

  1. You transfer appreciated securities to Camp YJ.

  2. Camp YJ sells the securities and uses the proceeds for camp.

HOW YOU BENEFIT:

  1. You receive credit and an immediate income tax deduction for the fair market value of your securities.

  2. You avoid capital gains tax.

TRANSFER DIRECTIONS:

  1. Please contact your brokerage firm to determine the correct form they need to transfer securities.

  2. Please complete the form with Camp YJ as the donor:
