Getting Ready for Camp

Look at that Countdown Clock! For many, camp brings really positive thoughts, like purchasing camp clothes, deciding what Clubs to sign up for, feeling excited to meet new people. For others, worry and doubt start to creep in. What if I drop my toothbrush/don't like the food/can't remember where the waterfront is?* (see below for answers!)

And of course, we recognize that parents often have MANY questions of their own! Sending your child to camp for the first time is a huge milestone and a remarkable journey for the entire family!

Concerns and questions are VERY typical and actually completely sensible! It's human nature to handle anticipation about a new situation with some trepidation. If you're a parent, especially of a first-time camper, please feel free to call us for tips, ideas and information! We're especially excited about our upcoming Meet and Greet at ForeKicks in Marlborough, MA, on May 22, where new and prospective campers will have the opportunity to meet other new campers and their families, as well as some of our counselors and administrators. We'll be playing games, doing some crafts, enjoying some refreshments and of course, getting some CYJ special gifts. It's an informal way to ask questions (several "veteran" parents will be there, too!) and take the first step towards a fantastic summer. If you're unable to join us, please call us and we can help arrange a get-together or connection with other campers or staff. (If you know someone who might be interested in attending this fun event, please have them contact our Community Outreach Director, Marni Israel at marni@campyoungjudaea.com)

At CYJ, we want you and your family to feel comfortable, excited, accepted, welcomed and secure in the knowledge that you're joining a wonderful community of support and trust.

*1) Ask your counselor for another toothbrush right away! 2) we always have lots of food options and special pasta and salad bars and 3) just ask any camper or counselor for help
