Camp Young Judaea has found many ways to contribute to the community. Each year, our board of directors makes annual donations to worthy Jewish and camping causes. Recipients have included the Weizmann Institute in Israel, Jewish Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Friends of the Israeli Defense Fund, Kol Isha, a program helping victims of domestic violence, the American Camp Association and several other organizations. In addition, over the years we have hosted several Israeli campers each year, giving them an opportunity to participate in an American Jewish summer camp experience.
We also reach out to the community through our annual “Day at CYJ” for the Jewish Big Brother/Big Sister organization, which includes participants in the Friend2Friend program and family members. It’s a wonderful day of activities and fun at our camp.
We support our local community in New Hampshire. In addition to making donations to local shelters of food, clothing and towels each year, we also host a number of community events at camp in the fall and spring, including youth baseball and soccer, fundraising events for our police department, and meetings and programs for the Baboosic Lake Association and the local fire department.
